a better future for dogs
ABOUT US
The Canine Behaviour & Training Society (TCBTS) is a non-profit professional body representing canine behaviourists and dog training instructors across the UK and beyond.
Since 1992, we’ve provided a trusted network of accredited professionals who use science-led, compassionate, and ethical methods to improve the lives of dogs and their owners. Our members uphold the highest welfare and professional standards, ensuring dogs receive the best possible support.
Our Values
At TCBTS, everything we do is guided by our three core values.
Collaborative
We believe in learning from one another and working together across roles, including professionals, veterinary teams and dog owners. By fostering strong partnerships, we create a united, ethical approach to dog behaviour and training.
Progressive
We stay at the forefront of science-led, ethical, and welfare-focused methods. By championing best practices and advocating for industry regulation, we help raise standards and improve outcomes both for dogs and those who support them.
supportive
We’re a welcoming, friendly and approachable organisation that values the well-being and success of all those we support. Through guidance, education and practical help, we’re committed to helping both people and dogs thrive.
A Trusted & Recognised Organisation
We are proud to be an Animal Behaviour & Training Council (ABTC) Practitioner Organisation, offering membership and community for Animal Training Instructors (ATIs), Animal Behaviour Technicians (ABTs) and Clinical Animal Behaviourists (CABs) working with dogs.
We are also an approved ABTC Assessor Organisation, offering a recognised assessment route for Clinical Animal Behaviourists (CABs) and Animal Training Instructors (ATIs).
Meet the Team
Our board is made up of passionate dog training and behaviour professionals dedicated to building a better future for dogs.
Working Together with Canine Arthritis Management (CAM)
Our partnership with Canine Arthritis Management (CAM) helps raise awareness of chronic pain in dogs and ensures behaviourists are well-equipped to recognise and address it.
CAM is a veterinary-driven online resource dedicated to improving the lives of dogs with arthritis. By raising awareness, promoting early diagnosis, and advocating for multi-modal, evidence-based management, CAM aims to achieve #YourDogMoreYears—helping dogs live longer, more comfortable lives.
